Item is a commission for James Wemys, gentleman, to serve as an ensign in the 40th Foot Regiment. The commission is cosigned by the Marquess of Hertford, who was lord lieutenant of Ireland at the time of the commission, and also Henry Meredyth and Richard Robinson, Meredyth's deputy. It is printed on parchment, with names, dates, titles and other particulars filled in by hand.
